SYMMETRY SQUARE

This piece is based on the Notan paper-cutting art. This was one of my favorite pieces to develop because it was a technique and approach that was new to me. Starting with a square of black paper, we cut out patterns that were reflected over each side. The theme of my square was about the elements earth, water, fire, and air. The challenge was to compose four distinct patterns that would merge together as one unified and balanced composition.
