This app is designed to help college students eat healthier and more efficiently. Crave offers several unique recipes, including dishes from local Ann Arbor restaurants. Crave also has a delivery and pickup option where users can have recipe ingredients delivered to their house or can pick up ingredients at specific points on campus.
The Task
Design a digital product that addresses a real-world problem.
The Problem
As a University of Michigan student, I need quick, convenient, and healthy meal options that fit into my busy schedule and limited access to grocery stores, so I can feel satisfied and well-nourished without spending too much time cooking or meal prepping.
Activities Performed
I was the sole designer for this project. I performed user research, article research, sketched ideas, conducted interviews, surveys, roommate observations, competitive analysis of HelloFresh, and created a mood board and lo-fi and hi-fi prototypes.
Ideation/Process
First, I created sketches and a paper prototype.
I also conducted several forms of user research including surveys, interviews, observation, and a competitive analysis of HelloFresh. Below are a few highlights from my research.
Next, I created a low-fidelity prototype and high-fidelity prototype.
Results
The final outcome of this UX project was Crave, a thoughtfully designed app that simplifies healthy eating for college students. By offering quick and convenient recipes, including dishes inspired by local Ann Arbor restaurants, Crave provides students with accessible meal options tailored to their busy schedules. The app’s delivery and pickup feature further enhances convenience, allowing users to receive pre-portioned ingredients at home or designated campus locations. Through intuitive design and user-focused functionality, Crave successfully addresses the challenge of limited grocery access and time constraints, making nutritious eating easier and more efficient for students.
